BEYOND WORDS - Handwriting Analysis

Ouch!  My lower loop hurts!

Because I was skeptical, I was not that interested in learning how handwriting could reflect physical  illness or injury.    That changed last month.

I was in Las Vegas attending Handwriting Analysis classes when Carlos, a seasoned analyst who was assisting Bart Baggett, offered to look at my handwriting.  I had never met Carlos before.  After studying my writing he asked, "How did you hurt your foot or ankle?"  (No, I don't have a cast on, nor do I have any outward indications of a foot injury, but I did have surgery about 6 years ago and have very localized discomfort on the left side of my right foot.)  I asked why he would ask me that and he said, " I see a tic in your y-loop."   (Handwriting conversations are amusing!)

Can you see the tic?  I've enlarged the script and circled the tics below. There is a consistent mark on my lower loops that indicate a nearly imperceptible tremor when I write that somehow reflects the pain in my foot. This tic was not there in samples of my writing from 20 years ago.
Even when I try, I cannot make a Y without the small tic
With a trained eye, analyts like myself can get a holistic snapshot of a person.

The fact that a new acquaintance detected this health issue simply by studying my writing taught me not to limit my analyses to strictly personality traits.     When I see a lot of tics, or broken and/or faded lines in an individual's writing, I know that person is not feeling 100% physically.

I do not fully understand why our handwriting reveals so much about us.  We are "fearfully and wonderfully made" and the brain -body connection is not, and may never be, fully  understood. So use it as a tool to better understand yourself and others.
